The Buckeye District No. 11 covers the states of Kentucky, Ohio and parts of West Virginia and Pennsylvania.
The Ahepa family of District 11 consists of 24 AHEPA, 17 Daughters of Penelope, 4 Sons of Pericles and 3 Maids of Athena chapters.
Our four orders total over 2500 members make the Buckeye district the largest districts in Ahepa.
The Buckeye district is a great supporter of the HUD housing projects for senior citizens.
To date, completed housing projects in Ohio are found in Youngstown, Dayton, two in Cincinnati, Canton and Toledo.
Every year the State of Ohio recognizes Greek Independence Day by flying our Greek flag at the State Capitol. Our District Lodge officers meet with the Governor of the State of Ohio for this momentous occasion in our Greek history.
In Cleveland, Ohio our Greek Independence Day Parade is growing in recognition and participation every year. This event takes place the Saturday before March 25th each year.
The Cleisthenes Project is a fund, which supports recognition to Cleisthenes of ancient Greece who wrote the basic format of Democracy, which evolved, to our modern day democratic system. This is being partially funded by the District 11 AHEPA family. This project has placed a bust of Cleisthenes as well as Thomas Jefferson in the Senate and House chambers of the Capitol building in Columbus, Ohio and the John Glenn Institute at Ohio State University. The states of Texas & Iowa, Washington D.C., and the Museum of Athens are all interested in the project.
The Buckeye district has a very effective “Scholarship Foundation” that provides several scholarships each year to the sons and daughters of its members (For more information relating to the District Scholarship Foundation, Click on “Foundations” on the District 11 Home Page. Several of the chapters of District #11 have their own scholarship programs, which provide additional scholarships to the sons and daughters of their members. District #11 provides approximately $90.000 in scholarships each year through its various scholarship programs.
